Western going to JD?

I heard that Western Law recently had a townhall meeting where they discussed switching from an LLB to a JD. There was a huge turnout and both sides were well presented. Soon (next week?), the students will put it to a vote.

Here at Queen's, we have a committee looking into switching. I believe UBC is also considering it. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

It's Monday and Tuesday. I'm in the LL.B. minority. I should start rallying or something ... oh well, too much other stuff to do. I really doubt that a student-led vote which'll end up somewhat divided will have a great deal of sway.

It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I've been speaking to friends about the idea and I'm not longer unequivocally convinced that a JD is better. (But I'm still voting for it.)

Interestingly, I've heard that this issue just keeps cropping up. There was a huge listserv debate at Queen's about 3 years ago (that everyone's promptly forgotten). Osgoode had a huge debate.

Basically, there's very little institutional memory in law schools.
